Flea Control

One of the few drawbacks of owning a family pet is the presence of fleas. When your pets are outside of your home, where they go and who they play with can be the difference between a flea-free house and a flea-infested home…

Check your pet for fleas if you notice them scratching more than normal!

Pesky fleas are very small and often hard to spot, but they are very irritating. With 90 different species living among us in Australia, most of us have likely had a flea bite at some point in our lives!

How We Get Rid of Fleas

Fleas may be microscopic, but you and we don’t want them in our homes. Although getting rid of fleas isn’t an emergency, we understand your want to be flea-free, so contact us right away to schedule a consultation!

First, we do a thorough inspection of your property to identify potential issues. Fleas are most commonly found in fiber areas such as beds, furniture, carpets, bedding, and clothing. A surface spray is used to treat certain frequent flea habitats.

We do not advocate treating tiled or concreted areas because fleas do not live on hard, flat surfaces, so they are not in need of treatment. Schedule a consultation today, and we’ll work hard to get rid of any fleas in your home.

Why Is Flea Removal Important?

  • Adult fleas are bloodsuckers who prefer to live and feed on pets or people.
  • It is not commonplace for public health warnings of “flea plagues” to be issued as a result of population growth.
  • Humans and pets can contract infections from fleas. The bubonic plague was spread by flea bites on rats throughout the Middle Ages. Parasitic worms are carried by fleas and can be passed from pets to people.
  • Irritation, inflammation, and infection are all possible side effects of bites.
  • After each blood meal, an adult female flea lays roughly eight eggs. She can lay hundreds of eggs in her lifetime, which is usually 100-500 days. Each egg takes one to two weeks to mature into an adult.
  • Eggs are placed in the fur of pets or in the host’s sleeping places.
  • Fleas enjoy warm, humid environments and are especially problematic during the summer.
  • Eggs can even be deposited outside, where they will stop growing until better conditions arrive.

Different Types of Fleas We Help Remove

Cat Flea:  In most areas, this is the most prevalent flea. Humans, dogs, and other mammals are all at risk from this pest.

Dog Flea:  In appearance, it’s similar to a cat flea, although it’s less common.

Human Flea:  This flea has become less common with the invention of the vacuum cleaner. This flea will attack other mammals, but it prefers pigs.

Oriental Rat Flea:  Although it feeds primarily on rats, it can transmit infections that are harmful to human health.

Contact us for a professional flea treatment if you have seen fleas on your pet (or yourself) or if your lease has finished and you are required to perform a flea treatment.
